a diagnosis

When things happen in your life- good or bad, do people ever tell you WHY that thing has happened? The past month has been interesting for me- hearing people place their diagnosis in a way on my situation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've heard a lot of "Oh I bet God just wants you to slow down!" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Honestly, I don't think that's what God wants to tell me. I've been living a much "slower" life these days than what I have in other seasons. I've been putting time and effort into places I've felt called to be. When the car accident happened I remember vividly feeling like God was acting as our very own Mr. Incredible, moving the car just so that while we have some not fun results of it, it could have been much worse. We live in a broken world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To me, I think Satan from the beginning has wanted me to feel discouraged. To get me down that I wouldn't be able to write or paint. (Hello voice to text! I'll be back soon easel!) To feel alone in motherhood without being able to swim with my kids.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In our last Bible study on the #armorofGod I remember the writer saying if Satan can isolate us, he can influence us. I think that's true- and I think I could be in a season of isolation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead- we've been surrounded by amazing friends who've brought us meals and played with my kids at the pool when I can't jump in. We're keeping up with the #summerbiblestudy when it would have been easy to say "maybe that's too much!"  and I'm using things like Paperless Post to easily get the invites out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm listening to His voice, not the voice of others. Friends are wonderful and often mean well, but I'd encourage you this summer to make sure you're still enough to listen to Him and know what He's saying to you. You'll know that still small voice when you hear it.
