let's get crafty. my first DIY

I'm a victim to the world of Pinterest and thinking I can do things all by myself just like that.  There are so many crafty ideas on there so between that and my super talented Mother-in-Law I was encouraged to do some painting in our place.  Since we're renting and I didn't want to commit to painting walls I looked around our room and decided with all the wood it was time for some more color.

I've tried adding pops of color against our chocolate brown leather couches but they are just surrounded by wood.  I needed some more brightness in my life and chose the free table that my Mom found on the side of the road 2 years ago to be my first DIY item.

Although I told myself (and Benjamin) that this would be my project, I of course asked him to quickly sand and help me paint.  It was a project we did together and now of course he knows we'll knock out the next painting project, the china cabinet, in a week or so.

We chose Benjamin Moore Lemongrass recommended to us by Benjamin's designer sister and used the Benjamin Moore Advance paint which I'd highly recommend.  It adds some nice color to our space and is especially nice that even though it's yellow it's a very versatile shade.  I can see this going in a girl's bedroom, a guest room, or even a bathroom someday.

Here's to more painting projects!
