big summer potluck

It's been a busy week here as I continue to get things in order for the nursery like washing little clothes and going to the store to get some diapers "just in case he comes early."  You could say I'm in nesting mode as far as house organization goes, and also when it comes to time with the husband, I'm cherishing it.  No computers on at night, and hardly any on during the day.  I feel like unplugging and not staring at this screen for too long.

I'll be back to recipes soon, don't you fret, but in the meantime here are some pictures from Big Summer Potluck, a conference I attended two weeks ago north of Philly.  It was small, intimate, and my kind of get together.  No one was handing out business cards or talking about their designers and how they optimize views on their blogs.  Nope.  They were talking about writing well, being true to yourself in that, and admitting that in this weird world of blogging we all are often super self-conscious about what we put out there.  We heard from some lovely speakers and I truly enjoyed the warm hospitality of the Anderson family.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get back there next year, but if I can, I'll try to make it.  It's interesting though being around a lot of other people who do similar things as me.  I realized yet again what an introvert I am and also how big this food blogging world is.  I also realized that I started this blog very differently than many others- from what I gathered.  It started for me as a way to share with friends what I had been cooking so that I wouldn't have to email out recipes several times a week.  It has grown into so much more, and for that I am thankful.

  1. It was so nice to meet you at BSP this year! I too am an introvert, but being around such a lovely group of people made it so much easier. (Also, my sister's name is Laura Beth too, hehe!) I hope to see you again soon and I'll be waiting to "meet" your little one! :-)
