...good spoon cranberry sauce...

Part of me is sad that I'm posting this recipes after Thanksgiving.  The other part is glad that you have Christmas to try them out.  Or maybe even before Christmas.  I might make this again before Christmas because cranberry sauce just seems way too good to not have more than twice a year.  I love it- it's packed with all things good for you, and it's really not hard at all to make.  Similar to my gravy experience- why would you buy this pre-made?!

I looked at several recipes I've made in the past, and decided it was silly for me to run to the store for one ingredient here or there.  I had enough on hand to make a great cranberry sauce, and cranberry sauce did I make.

Good Spoon Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:
2 bags fresh cranberries
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup straight up cranberry juice (I used some without sugar)
1/4 cup water
3 T honey
2 T. strawberry preserves
1/2-1 tsp cinammon
1/2-1 tsp. nutmeg

Combine the above and bring everything to a boil.  Reduce the heat and allow to simmer for about 10-15 minutes.  You can stir during this time and allow the sauce to thicken.  I added in the preserves for this very reason.  Once it is all incorporated and the time has passed, allow to cool then store in an airtight container in the fridge.  You can make this several days (3) before serving.  Enjoy!

  1. Every year my mom tries out a new cranberry recipe, but also makes a favorite just in case the new one is a flop. This year the new one was okay, but a little too vinegary. Will be sure to send her this one to add to the rotation!
